Day 1 – Arrive at crazy O’Clock in the morning. Use the great locker facility at Gare du Nord and leave luggage there before check in at the flat later.
We use this time to do some shopping in Galeries Lafeyette and see the roof top view.

I’m wearing the amazingly warm wool cashmere coat. It’s a shame the rest of the week was so warm – I couldn’t wear it again!! I look forward to the rest of Autumn Winter 2013 when the temperature drops and I can wear my coat more!!

September – A time to re-evaluate and re-start!

It’s nearing the end of August and I find myself thinking about September looming over me. Wow this year has passed so quickly and so much left to do!

September always feels like a new start to me. It’s almost like I have been left with the start of the school year permanently ingrained in my mind. As a working woman with my own business I still think about buying a new pencil case, some stationary and maybe a couple of new outfits in September, to see me through the start of the new Autumn season!!

Am I the only one? Perhaps.

The fashion merry-go-round (fashion fabric shows and fashion weeks) starts up again in September and most shops will have a full stock of Autumn Winter pieces in.

September feels like a start whether you took holiday in August or not. If you’re getting your kids new outfits for a fresh start in September perhaps September is a time for you to re-evaluate your own wardrobe.

Who says we have to only evaluate ourselves, our goals and our resolutions in January?

Why not take the time for yourself to start in September with a great new feeling about the way you look. I have had a think about some simple changes and things you could do to start off your new season. Here are some suggestions:

  • Go for a bra fitting (your body size fluctuates through out the year)
  • Go for a hair consultation (a new hair style, cut or colour can lift your mood in an instant)
  • Go through your wardrobe and get rid of those things that lurk around but you never wear (if you need a hand – meet an Image consultant to discuss your needs)
  • Wear a new colour: Do you always go for the same colours in your professional wardrobe – a new one that looks fab on you, can give confidence
  • Get a new lipstick or eyeshadow colour – they can make an instant impactBrown eyeshadows
  • Get some new accessories – you can jazz up an old suit with the addition of a new season belt or bag
  • Book yourself in for a manicure – nothing says professional like a well looked after pair of handsNails
  • Flush out those tights in your drawers that need to be binned. Get some great advice from a hosiery expert and fill your drawer with some great new tights for Autumn!Legs blog
  • Get your Autumn Winter shoes ready to go! A re-heel and polish will make them feel shiny and stylish again!

Consultations For London Based Readers:

If you are based in London for work or home then you may be interested in the event I have organised on 12th September. I decided that the start of September was the perfect time to hold our Colour themed networking and consultation evening.

The goal is to give professional women the chance to have a chat with consultants in a variety of colour focused areas in a relaxed and friendly environment. This advice should start you off for Autumn Winter.

We will be covering colour in the following areas: hair, makeup, image, clothing and tights.behind-the-scenes-4video

Chanel F/W 2013-14 Runway Collection

Wow, a great set for 2013-14 Autumn Winter Chanel fashion show. The models are like little planes orbiting the earth. The fabrics are gorgeous and I really like the cut of some of the coats. It reflects some of the shapes I have been playing with.

Words // John W Barger III JWBarger3

Karl Lagerfeld asserted Chanel’s global empire at his latest show, complete with a rug made out to be the map of the world and a revolving globe littered with black “CC” flags, indicating the location of every Chanel boutique on the planet. The collection was dark, but not sad (unlike most we’ve seen this month). Fabrics, many of which from far away looked like simple wovens in multi-tones and lurex, were actually intricate embroideries and melanges of fibers never before combined until the Kaiser got his hands on them. Silhouettes were top heavy and boxy, layering cutaway coats and longer jackets over short pleated skirts (many of which can thankfully be zipped down for those who are a bit more modest). What looked like cuissardes, or high boots, recently seen at Chanel Haute Couture, were actually leather and tweed legwarmers worn…

Let out of the studio for the day!

So I let myself chill out a little today. Enjoyed a trip to the Graduate Fashion Week to see the stands and to hear the WGSN Macro Trend Predictions for A/W 2013-14. Very interesting seminar, if a little swift and not indepth. I left feeling inspired with ideas and some of the trends were in tune with design ideas that have already been sprouting in my head! Some very bad images (taken by me) of potential A/W 13-14 colours to give you a hint of whats to come!:

Lots of exciting designs shown at the stands by the Graduates, I’ve been looking on WGSN tumbler where they have been updating images from the shows!

I then trouped in the endless rain with a good friend to the V & A for an hour musing over the historical fashion displays. Loved this corset:
