I’ve just been researching upcoming fashion exhibits to make sure I don’t miss anything good!
Here is a short list of what I think might be worth going to see (in date order):
Richard Avedon Women (21st-26th Oct 2013) – So short and it’s this week, so I might miss this which is a shame (photography)
Corinne Day May the Circle Remain Unbroken (21st Oct – 26th Nov 2013) – a talented and inspiring woman (photography)
Coco Chanel: A New Portrait by Marion Pike (till Nov 19th 2013) – This sounds like it could be interesting. I had not heard about Marion Pike before and I have read quite a few books on Chanel. (art)
Hello, My Name is Paul Smith (Nov 15th – Dec 31st 2013) – Recreating Paul Smiths whole design studio in the design museum sounds like an unmissable exhibition to me!
Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore (20th Nov 2013 – 2nd March 2014) Somerset House hosts an exhibition celebrating Isabella’s life and wardrobe (I’m definitely going to this one!)
The Glamour of Bellville Sassoon (till January 11th 2014) – I haven’t seen this exhibit yet but I have been to the Fashion and Textiles museum and it is a really nice exhibition space. Sassoon was a great British couture label and this should be a really nice exhibit (see my visit and review)
Club to Catwalk London Fashion in the 1980s (still on till 16th Feb 2014)
Fashion Rules Exhibition (till July 4th 2015) – Royal gowns on display at Kensington Palace
Looking a bit further ahead:
The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk (9th April 2014 – 17th Aug 2014) – Yay!!
The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014 (5th April – 27th July 2014) – The craftsmanship and luxurious materials should make this a lovely exhibit.
Wedding Dress 1755-2014 (3rd May 2014 – 15th March 2015) – If you are interested in bridal wear and the way key designers have treated this subject.
Horst: Photographer of Style (6th Sept 2014 – 4th Jan 2015) – A retrospective of Horst’s work (photography)
