Chanel F/W 2013-14 Runway Collection

Wow, a great set for 2013-14 Autumn Winter Chanel fashion show. The models are like little planes orbiting the earth. The fabrics are gorgeous and I really like the cut of some of the coats. It reflects some of the shapes I have been playing with.

Karl Lagerfeld asserted Chanel’s global empire at his latest show, complete with a rug made out to be the map of the world and a revolving globe littered with black “CC” flags, indicating the location of every Chanel boutique on the planet. The collection was dark, but not sad (unlike most we’ve seen this month). Fabrics, many of which from far away looked like simple wovens in multi-tones and lurex, were actually intricate embroideries and melanges of fibers never before combined until the Kaiser got his hands on them. Silhouettes were top heavy and boxy, layering cutaway coats and longer jackets over short pleated skirts (many of which can thankfully be zipped down for those who are a bit more modest).
